A Halloween Story
So you'd think that planning Halloween night would be pretty easy huh? I mean, haunted houses, trick or treating, costume party, it's all pretty simple for anyone. Anyone that's not us of course. So here's what happened:
Our first idea was a pretty good one, have a Halloween party at Spencer's office in Kalihi, dress up, buy some drinks, order a pizza, plus, Kalihi = scary. But those Halloween thunderstorms kinda leaked through the office roof and we wanted to hang someplace a little drier. Anyway, that idea was out, so Spencer offered his place instead. Ok, that was alright, but how could we be all dressy up on Halloween and not check out all the other weirdos in town? So we decided to hike it over to Waikiki after dinner. But there was another really scary event going on in town that night, a Republican party rally at the Convention Center. Anyway, being the supreme geek that he is, Spencer got himself a ticket for a night with Dick Cheney. So, we decided to have dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and then Spencer can walk over to the convention center after dinner. But of course, nothing is ever that easy. They had blocked off all the roads around the convention center (by the way, town drivers can bite me) so we couldn't get into Hard Rock. Anyway, we ended up at Ala Moana which was okay, we could have dinner at CPK.
Sounds like the end of the story huh? Well of course not. Being Halloween, something trick or treat-y has to happen, and so it did, to Spencer's truck. I think that it was probably a haunted truck, or possibly possessed (you can tell by the bright yellow color), anyway it came to life somehow and decided the world was too cruel so it committed seppuku going up a ramp in the parking lot. Ok, so we pushed it aside, but we couldn't get it all the way up the ramp. Luckily, Jeremy and Melissa came to the rescue (as did a big sole guy who practically lifted the entire truck up onto his shoulders) to help us push it up the ramp. Phew! Almost done. But we took a break to have dinner (CPK is yummy by the way). So after dinner we give his truck a good jump start and we're off!
Oh, but of course it's still not over. I get a phone call ten minutes later, that darn possessed truck never even made it to the freeway. Well, I hope it's happy, stuck there on Pi'ikoi, perhaps that's where it's old owner died or something. Bah, this story is dumb. I'm tired of typing and I'm being distracted by monday night football so let's just say the end. The end.
PS - Oh yeah, click on the Halloween photo album on the right to see some spooky pics from our night.
