What happens when you're sick

When you're sick for a whole week and you have to stay home from classes and externship and you're stuck in the house not being able to do anything but sit in one place and constantly blow snot out of your nose there's time for a lot of things that you wouldn't normally do, such as:
1. Finally starting to study for COMPS
2. Discovering that if you don't comb your hair or shave for about two weeks and put on a black beret, you'd look like a crazy beat-nik poet.
3. Sit in front of the tv and watch a set of 4 japanese DVDs that your sister borrowed.

So, here's a review of what I did this week:

#1 Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind - this was a pretty good movie. It was interesting and kinda neat, except it was really really really gross! The whole movie was about a war with these big, fat, disgusting bugs! Eww!


#2 My Neighbor Totoro - cute and funny kid's movie. But it had really simple japanese so I could understand a lot without the subtitles, which was fun. Neko ba-su is fun. It's also a lot better when you're hyped up on medication.


#3 Castle in the Sky (Laputa) - this was another good movie, I liked it. Enjoyable and a cool concept.


#4 Grave of Fireflies - ok, this was a really creepy disturbing movie. Do not watch it. It's about these orphans after their parents were killed in WWII and the two kids run away from their foster parents to live alone but they have no money or anything and they have to steal food and eventually they run out of food, get sick, and die. Don't watch it.


#5 Kiki's Delivery Service - this was a good one to watch after that firefly movie. Another quick kid's movie, but it was fun to watch.


#6 Porco Rosso - this one was boring. It's about a pig who's bounty hunter pilot. I stopped watching it after 15 minutes.


#7 Princess Mononoke - this is my favorite out of this collection, I really really like the music. But that gross deer-god is just gross.


#8 Spirited Away - this is a cool movie too, although also really gross (especially that big fat baby), but it also has really good music

Conclusion = japanese people are weird. The end.
