almost

I like this picture from Kristen. Does anyone feel like christmas is almost here? I don't know why, but for some reason this year I feel like it's almost christmas. Maybe it's this hurricane-y weather that we've been having making everything cold and rainy and that makes it feel like winter already, or maybe because I'm planning a vacation in november which makes it seem like the holidays are a little sooner. Either way, I like it! I know I've been big into halloween, but I think it's because that bleeds right into christmas (hee hee, punny). It's like as soon as halloween is done, all the christmas stuff starts up right away, without even waiting for thanksgiving.

Hmm, also, I like the cold weather. I like going out at night and having to bring a jacket. Also I like wearing sweaters and stuff that makes me look all grown-up like (so that I don't get teachers at work mistaking me for a student). Plus when you're all dressed for the cold, doesn't it make you want to do things that are more, um, productive? Like in school whenever it was rainy and cold I wanted to do homework and go to work and cook dinner and stuff. But when it's all hot and muggy and sticky you don't ever want to do anything but melt into the couch. Hmm, it could also be that I'm associating cold weather and rain and october/november with marching band (ok, hold on, I'm not going all band dork here, I have a point), because during those high school years october/november was pressure time for both band and school (band because it was football season and competition season, and school because it was prepare for SAT season and for some reason just a lot more stressful academically), plus all the holiday stuff and knowing that it would all be done and over with by the time christmas came. I like how those things had a definate beginning, middle, and end. Anyway, cold weather, rain, and cold-weather clothes got associated with those things in my head and so somehow this october to december period is really important in my head. Does anyone else get that too?

Except now I may be catching a cold. That sucks. Ok, well, it's time to go do something productive, later.
